A Lazy Girl's Guide to Exercise

Okay, I lied. It's not really so much of a guide than a story of my attempt to get fit. But I did tell the truth about me being lazy.

I am lazy.

Exercise just doesn't come naturally for me. I'm the type of girl who carries a fake sick note so she doesn't have to join the weekly morning run at school. Or the one who's waiting for Physical Education class with dread because everyone has to learn to do a serve in volleyball (or was it a pass? Ah who cares) because she knows she's gonna fail spectacularly and makes a fool of herself in front of the whole class. I'm also the type who enthusiastically joins a gym (because everyone's doing it), buy a pair of cute trainers, show up to 1 or 2 fitness classes and then never came back, with the same tired old excuse "But I'm busy!"

Yep, am that girl. And if I'm not scared of the health consequences, I'll still be sitting on my couch, eating a bag of peanuts while watching Lost right now. No wait, that is what I'm doing.

Ahem, anyway.

There are times when I managed to push myself hard enough to actually stick to a routine. There was a time when I did go to the gym 2-3 times a week for a few months. Then there was a time I joined a yoga class which I came to really really love (I still do, Actually). But it always ended up the same. I always quit.

So for a few months now I've been feeling very unfit. I get dizzy spells, I'm out of breath often, I wake up feeling even more tired than the night before and so on and so forth. Plus I'm constantly tired from working (being entrepreneur is no walk in the park. Someone should've warned me! :D) so I really needed to be more energized and healthy. My body was begging me to do something.

I came upon an article in Prevention magazine about this 10 mins workout. It was specifically designed for people who don't have enough time to exercise. So there are a few 10 mins workout plans shown in the article, a few cardio and a few strengh. The idea is you can pick and choose which ones you wanna do. Ideally, you combine 2-3 exercises at one go to get the maximum benefit, but if you're really pressed for time, you can just do one type. It is a medium to high impact work out so they said you can even lose weight if you do it consistently.

So I thought, hey this is perfect for me! I've been thinking of going back to the gym, but to be honest, I feel kinda guilty to take away a few precious hours I have with my daughter in the morning, because lately, they're all we've got. So I started doing these 10 mins workout.

It's been 4 days now, and even though it is waaayy harder than it looks in the magazines (the model was actually smiling while doing the lunges, what is she a robot?) And I feel like I could die by the time I finish, I think I could stick with this one. It doesn't take much time, I can do it while Aluf is sitting right next to me, I can wear whatever I want because I don't have to meet anyone and as soon I'm done, I could go to take a shower in the comfort of my own bathroom.

I'm planning to do it everyday, maybe combining it with a light yoga on the weekends. So wish me luck alright? Maybe this new routine can even lead me into doing a marathon one day.

Yeah. I didn't believe that for one second either :)
